Star Wars: Darth Plagueis
Written By: James Luceno | ★★★ (3 Stars)
Review:
The book was fantastic, but it only receives three stars from me BECAUSE… I own the physical book, I’ve been trying to read it for a decade. It’s just so stuffy and written in a very difficult manor to understand. I’m quite deep into the Star Wars universe and even I found it to be so droning and boring. I’m so sorry James, you did well, but for someone like me it could not keep my attention. Thus I ended up listening to it as an Audiobook which was still difficult.
This is the MOST difficult book to get through in my opinion. Mind you, I’ve read the Republic Commando Novels and they are pretty information heavy, but there was just something about the way this was written that was extremely unappealing to me. I still recommend it because it’s a necessary insight to the prequels, but it’s a true intention if you plan on reading/listening to this book.
I did appreciate the extra insights and the behind the scenes things we’ve seen from Episode 1, much like reading the trilogy that E.K. Johnson wrote about Padmé. There’s always so many things going on at any given time in these stories so the fact remains there’s always another side that’s missed. This book is yet another great example of multi-purposed events taking place during important time frames. If it weren’t for the way it was written I would have gone through it much sooner, I think.
